Sunday, 16th October, 2011 – The Springs Golf Club

Individual Event
  1. Richard Kidner – 41 pts
  2. Richard Edmonds – 38 pts
  3. Nigel Wain – 36 pts
Team Event
  1. Peter H, Dave M & John Gent – 127 pts
  2. Dave Norman, Nigel W & Ken White – 112 pts
  3. Pete C, Phil R & Richard K – 100 pts

Another high scoring event with Richard Kidner winning the day with 41 points. Honourable mention should also be made of John Gent who score 36 points but missed out on third place following a count-back. The team game was everybody’s favourite – Yellow Ball – and many dreams of victory were dashed on the par three 8th which is surrounded by water!

Nearest the Pin was won by Peter Harris. Nearest the Pin in 2 was won by Richard Kidner and the Longest Drive was won by Richard Edmonds. The all important 2’s sweep saw money being passed to Nigel W, John G and our host Mr Harris (twice).

Saturday 18th September, 2011 – Banbury Golf Club

  1. Dave Mitchell – 43 pts
  2. Frank Tanner – 43 pts
  3. Nigel Wain – 40 pts
Team Event

  2. Pete C, Marin & Phil – 108 pts
  3. Steve C, JP & Sue P – 105 pts

43 points from the Handicap Secretary was just enough to sneak the win away from Frank on count back.   Everyone is looking forward to hearing the revised handicaps at our next outing.  Pictures from the day have been added to the Photo Gallery.

Sunday July 24th, 2011 – South Cerney Golf Club

Individual Event
  1. Martin Sykes – 41 pts
  2. Christine Mitchell – 37 pts
  3. Nigel Wain – 37 pts
Team Event
  1. Nigel, Dave Numan & Martin – 81 pts

Nearest the Pin was won by Christine Mitchell (she succeeded where all else failed – to hit the green). Dave Scott clinched the Nearest the Pin in two and Martin Sykes won the longest drive.

Thanks are due once again to Dave M for hosting the event and in special mention must be made of the excellent meal we received afterwards.

Congratulations are due to our champion on the day – Martin, although the handicap committee are considering whether Martin should have a special ‘South Cerney’ handicap applied as this is not the first time he’s played an excellent round of golf at this venue. Special mention must also be made of Frank Tanner for achieving a ‘hole-in-1’ at the 10th. A feat appreciated by all in the bar afterwards – thanks for the drink Frank!

Sunday March 27th, 2011 – West Berks Golf Club

  1. Mike Burton – 40 pts
  2. Nigel Wain – 40 pts

Mike Burton and Dave Scott secured the only birdie 2s of the day – both claimed at the tricky 14th.
