Summer Away Day Report – 31st July 2016

Ogbourne Downs Golf Club

The July away-day found a new venue at Ogbourne Downs on Sunday 31st July, kindly hosted by Christine Mitchell.
With no airshow or Open golf to distract the attendees, full focus could be applied to one’s own efforts.
The Individual event was won by bionic David Mitchell with 35 points followed by Frank Tanner with 34 and Nigel Wain on 32.
Frank and David also scooped the team event in the company of Reg brown and Micky Hubbard.
Their score of 75 points eclipsed the team of Dave Scott, Richard Edmonds, Peter Harris  and the invisible man by one point –  with Dave& Keith Norman,Nigel and Steve Mulford a further single point back.
Spot prizes went to
Mike Burton  NTP x 2 on the 3rd
Peter Harris  NTP    8th
Dave Scott Longest drive  14th
and Keith Norman NTP 17th
One birdie two was recorded by Richard Edmonds on the tricky 15th.
Special thanks to Christine for hosting the event.

Gallery Updated

The gallery has been updated with some pictures from the 2015 and 2016 tours.

It now includes Martin picking his ball out of the 17th hole at Lanhydrock after thrilling his playing partners with an excellent hole-in-1 at the tricky par 3. It also has him pictured in the dreadful trousers (sorry Peter) that he was made to wear in honour of the occasion.

2017 Agenda Confirmed

The 2017 Tour will be based at Trethorne and will commence on Sunday 14th May, 2017.

Peter has negotiated a very good deal that includes dinner on Sunday and Monday as well as lunch on the Monday in addition to the usual Bed and Breakfast. Meet at 12:00pm for a 1:00pm start. Four ball, better ball team event.

Spring Away Day Report – 17th April, 2016

The West Berkshire Golf Club

With mild and calm conditions coupled with a “damp” course scoring was respectable with over half the field scoring 30 points or more.
Coming out on top was Paul Needle with 35 points followed by Richard Edmonds 33 and Nigel Wain 32.
Thankfully no countback was needed!
Team wise Paul, along with Dave Scott and Geoff Scott, triumphed with 69 points.
The Spot prizes went to-
Pete Cosford NTP @ 7th
Peter Harris  NTP x 2 @ 12th
Dave Norman NTP @ 14th
Paul Needle  Longest Drive at the last.
Not content with his prize haul, Paul also swept up the 2’s club.
