2017 Agenda Confirmed

The 2017 Tour will be based at Trethorne and will commence on Sunday 14th May, 2017.

Peter has negotiated a very good deal that includes dinner on Sunday and Monday as well as lunch on the Monday in addition to the usual Bed and Breakfast. The reason for not having dinner on the Tuesday evening is that our visit to Carlyon Bay on that day includes a two course meal in the clubhouse after play.

The full agenda is as follows:

Sunday, 14th May – Boringdon Park Golf Club, Plympton.

Meet at 12:00pm for a 1:00pm start. Four ball, better ball team event.

Monday, 15th May – Trethorne Golf Club, Launceston

9:06 AM – Four ball, better ball team event.  14:30 PM – Greensomes

Tuesday, 16th May – Carlyon Bay Golf Club, St Austell

13:30 PM – The Championship

Wednesday, 17th May – Trethorne Golf Club, Launceston

10:00 AM – Singles team event.

Buggies are available at all venues.

Please let Peter know if you’re able to join us.

2016 Tour – Day 4 Report

Wednesday, 18th May – Whitsand Bay

Recognising a lost cause when they see it, Wednesday saw the abandonment of the singles and replacement with a team “Pink Ball” challenge in groups of three.
The sunshine of Looe was but a distant memory as the teams were confronted with weather that could be politely described as changeable.
In fairness, the heavy downpours were very intermittent and could hardly be blamed for at least two of the groups losing their ball on the first tee shot of the day.
It may, however, have contributed to another group who chose to dispose of theirs towards the sea on the 6th.
Results
The team of Sue Pritchard, Martin Sykes and ace team player Pete Cosford were oblivious to all this mayhem. They returned with pink ball intact, carding a commendable 106 points which was easily enough to secure victory.
Spot prizes went to
NTP      10th      Martin Sykes
NTP      12th      John Pritchard
NTP x 2 13th     Nigel Wain
Longest Drive 9th  Dave Scott
The format for this day will, prior to next years tour, either be reviewed by a specially selected committee, or decided via referendum. Watch this space.

2016 Tour – Day 3 Report

Tuesday, 17th May – Yelverton

The 2016 Open Championship was held at a new venue for most of the attendees this year.
Overall, the scoring was good with more than half the field scoring 30 points or more.
Out first, defending champion Robert Austen found the course to his liking setting a commendable target of 36 points . In his group Dave Scott came up one point short despite scoring 23 points on the back nine. Closely behind came Pete Cosford and Nigel Wain on 34 .
Notable outward scores came from Nigel with 22, Rob with 21, Sue Scott with 19 and Bruce Mercer with 18.
Coming back,  Dave led the way with 23 with Richard 19 and Pete C 18.
Overall a victory for Rob retaining the trophy and being the first holder of the “Harris Hat of Glory”. This year, in a striking red colour.
Rob being congratulated by our host - Peter.
